The Fiets4Daagse Alkmaar takes you along all the beauty that Alkmaar and its surroundings have to offer.
Every day there is a beautiful route at the Fiets4Daagse Alkmaar. An eye for nature, culture and relaxation. You can choose between 30, 50 or 70 km. You choose the distance you cycle during the four days in advance. If you have a little less or a little more time or energy one day, feel free to choose a different distance. We will surprise you every day with beautiful and special passages on the route.
Day 1: Schoorl, North Sea Route
The first day of the Fiets4Daagse Alkmaar is dedicated to the North Sea and Schoorl. This beautiful part of the Netherlands should not be missed during the Fiets4Daagse Alkmaar. All distances therefore run through Schoorl and its surroundings on this first cycling day. For example, you will find a stamp post down at the famous climbing dune.
From Schoorl the routes continue towards Warmenhuizen and Schagerbrug, where you can enjoy a coffee break with a small snack. The routes take you back to Alkmaar via the extensive dune area of the North Sea and across the Hondsbossche Zeewering near Petten. The start and finish of all distances will take place at Ice Rink de Meent in Alkmaar.
Day 2: Forest and dune Route
North Holland is rich in beautiful forest and dune areas. You can enjoy this unique environment during the Fiets4Daagse Alkmaar. In summer, this region is buzzing with the lovely sun and cozy coastal villages such as Bergen (NH) and Egmond invite you to take a break in the salty sea air. The routes then continue to the south where you cross the forests between Egmond and Castricum.
Day 3: Westfriesland Route
Alkmaar was and is the center of the action in much of North Holland; both in the past and nowadays. The West Frisian polders are also beautiful in the summer. On the third day, the routes of the Fiets4Daagse Alkmaar take you to the east to discover the Westfriesland Route. Participants cycle on the historic ‘Westfriese Omringdijk’. This dike is more than 700 years old and no less than 126 km long. The age-old dike is characteristic of West Friesland, in addition to the beautiful old villages, windmills and local products.
Day 4: Around Alkmaar
The final day of this Fiets4Daagse is all about Alkmaar and the surrounding area. Picturesque villages such as Graft, De Rijp and the villages in De Schermer have been part of the municipality of Alkmaar since 2015. These beautiful villages will therefore not be skipped this Fiets4Daagse. The Beemsterpolder is one of the few polders in the Netherlands that is on the World Heritage List. With this Beemster next door, a passage through this polder will be on the program. From the Beemster, the route takes the participants to the festive finish that will take place in the middle of the Waagplein in the heart of Alkmaar!
